What you will own
- Supporting the social and emotional development of children by helping teachers in establishing and maintaining a positive, safe, and healthy environment
- Helping teachers in planning and implementing learning experiences aimed at advancing the mental and physical development of children
- Serving as a liason in building relationships between children and their families
- Encourage family involvement
- Identifying challenging behaviors through observing, determining possible causes of the behavior, and then implementing/suggesting preventive measures
- Collaborating with families by providing them with proper resources to support child at home
- Record keeping and reporting including ongoing monitoring, self-assessments, and notes about children's progress
- Assisting with various administrative tasks as assigned
Skills you will bring to the table
- Strong interpersonal skills, both written and spoken
- Solution-oriented and service-driven
- Computer literacy in email, internet navigation, and Microsoft Office software
Non-negotiables
- Prior experience with children ages 0-5
- Child Development Associate CDA or enrolled to complete within 2 years
- Ability to lift children up to 40lbs multiple times a day, if needed
- Follow Child Abuse and Neglect Policy and fulfill role as mandated reporter
- Passing all Head Start licensing required checks including but not limited to:
- Background check
- Alcohol test
- Drug test
- TB test
- CPR and First Aid certifications or plan to obtain before start date
